Join us at 6pm for our regular monthly meeting which takes place on the last Tuesday of every month. Meetings are held in room 1043 of the Engineering Research Facility building on the UIC campus (at the corner of Halsted and Taylor).

On June 7, a joint EWB and Rotary Team will be participating in the Dragon Boat Races at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles IL from 8 AM – 6 PM. This is an action packed event and two seats are still available! No experience required. There will also be a craft fair, carnival and entertainment.

The Spring Social is a great opportunity to get to know fellow Rotary and EWB members. This event is also open to prospective members, friends and family. AJ and Lois Voth will be hosting this informal, backyard party. Bring a swimsuit because the Voth’s have a pool!

If you plan to attend then please RSVP by May 30 to AJ Voth (aj_voth at comcast.net). Suggested donation of $10 for food and drink. Metra to Geneva is also an option, but discuss with AJ beforehand.

EWB Fundraiser – Thursday June 26 from 6 – 9 PM.
UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Rd. Chicago, IL

Please join us for our annual fundraiser. Learn about our international projects, bid on silent auction items and enjoy food, beverages and lively conversation. The Chicago Department of Environment will lead a discussion on the Chicago’s environmental vision. Discounted tickets are available through June 13. Proceeds from the event will be used to support both student and professional chapter projects.

2008 International Conference

Several representatives from the Chicagoland Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders attended the 2008 EWB International Conference in Seattle, Washington in late March.   The theme of the conference was “Sustainable Engineering and Global Health.”

ASCE and Engineers Without Borders-USA Announce Formal Partnership

November 27th, 2007

To further their common goals of making the world a better place and improving the engineering profession, ASCE has formalized an affiliation agreement with Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB-USA). “It’s a natural fit for our two organizations to work together to further each other’s vision and activities to enhance the welfare of humanity,” said ASCE president David G. Mongan, P.E., F.ASCE. With the administrative and financial support provided by ASCE in the new agreement–up to $500,000–EWB-USA will be able to expand their role in educating engineering students and professionals while empowering developing communities through the creation of locally sustainable solutions, and ASCE members will gain a greater opportunity to contribute to and participate in EWB-USA projects and programs.
