Decision Science Model
Criteria

Potential projects are evaluated by EWB-CPC using a decision science model,
developed by the Chapter. The decision science model is organized to rank the
each criteria for each project as fairly and unbiasedly as possible. The results
from the model help determine whether or not EWB-CPC will pursue the potential
project. The criteria are listed below and grouped according to topic.

Group: Local Chapter and Volunteer Benefit

  • CPC Interest
  • Student Interest
  • Health and Safety of Volunteers1

Ability to Fund

  • Percent Material Costs Funded by Other NGOs, host government, or community (i.e., percent not covered by EWB)
  • Project Material Costs
  • Reasonableness of Cost
  • Travel Costs per Person

Project Success Long Term

  • Well-Defined Scope of Work
  • CPC Technical Skills
  • Project Sustainability
  • Local Source of Materials
  • Community Involvement
  • Cost to Maintain Project2
  • Host Government Involvement (Municipal, Regional, or Federal)
  • Local Skills
  • Other NGOs Available to Maintain/Replicate
